Description: Gold plated and enamel replica. All crosses have been blessed. 1.25" x 2""
This cross was issued in 1913 to commemorate the 300th Anniversary of the House of Romanov, and was presented primarily to Orthodox clergy for exceptional merit. The crown above the cross is the ancient "Cap of Monomakh" bestowed upon Mikhail I at his coronation (reigned 1613-45). The colors were appropriately chosen for their symbolic meaning. The color blue stands for royalty, and is associated with the Mother of God. Green symbolizes life, and is the color of the Holy Spirit.
